Camp Sparta Summer Camp 2017   Foundation Week, June 11th – 16th This camp is designed for campers entering 3rd through 6th grades.   Summer Camp Payment Process To reserve a spot for your camper, you need to make a non-refundable reservation deposit of through this registration system. Once your deposit has been received, you will receive an invoice for the final payment. This invoice will detail the date the final payment is due and how the final payment can be made. Registration Cost: 9 ( Non-Refundable Deposit + 4) Early Bird Rate (through 4/30/17): 9 ( Non-Refundable Deposit + 4)    Medical Information Medical Staff We have a health office located in the Lakeview Center which will be staffed 24 hours a day to meet the medical needs of campers. Due to the nature of camp, we provide first-aid type care only and cannot accommodate sick campers. In case of sickness, injury or extreme homesickness, we will contact parents/guardians to pick up their child and no refund will be granted.   Camper Medical Examination Each camper will be examined on-site for lice or any visible illness during the check-in process. If your camper is determined to have lice or to have any signs of an illness at check-in, your camper will not be able to attend summer camp. If your camper is unable to attend summer camp, a refund of your payment will be processed within 7 business days. In case of sickness, injury or extreme homesickness during camp, we will contact the parents/guardians to pick up their child and no refund will be granted.    Camper Medicines We can administer a few common over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol for a headache or Neosporin for a cut. However, the health office may administer medicines that you have included on your camper’s medical form. Please ensure that your camper’s medicine is turned in when they arrive for the bus at TMA or at check-in at Camp Sparta. All medicines are required to be in the original bottles and placed in a clear, Ziplock bag with the camper’s full name clearly noted along with the camper’s completed medical form.   Check-In Process (please see below for both Orlando and Sebring) Orlando Check–In (for campers riding the bus from TMA campus only) JUNE 9, 2017 (3:00 p.m. – 5:00p.m.) This check-in is for students who will be riding the bus from The Master's Academy campus to Camp Sparta (and back to Orlando from Camp Sparta).  This check-in will be held at The Master’s Academy, 1500 Lukas Lane, Oviedo, FL 32765.   *** Parents must bring their camper's completed medical authorization form and the promotional and liability waiver to complete the check-in process. We will provide an onsite notary for the medical authorization form. Links to these forms are provided at the bottom of this information or can be found on www.campsparta.com under the Summer Camp tab. Also, money will be collected at this time for the Snack Shack.     For departure, campers should plan to arrive at TMA on Sunday, June 11 between 12:00 and 12:45 p.m. *** The buses for Foundation week are scheduled to leave for camp on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Please arrive no later than 12:45 pm to ensure that your camper has time to load his or her belongings and use the restroom, if needed. The bus does not make any stops during the trip, so make sure your camper has snacks and a drink for the 2 to 2.5 hour ride to Camp Sparta.     Sebring Area Check-In (for campers going directly to Camp Sparta) This check-in will be held at Camp Sparta, 5055 Camp Sparta Road, Sebring, FL 33875.   Campers attending the FOUNDATION camp June 11th – 16th will check-in on Sunday, June 11th at Camp Sparta from 3 pm – 5:30 pm. *** Parents must bring their camper's completed medical authorization form and the promotional and liability waiver to complete the check-in process. We will provide an onsite notary for the medical authorization form. Links to these forms are provided at the bottom of this information or can be found on www.campsparta.com under the Summer Camp tab. *** All visitors not registered with the camp office will be asked to leave the camp by 6:00 pm.    Check-Out Process Orlando Check-Out Campers riding the TMA bus back to Orlando will be loaded and ready for dismissal at 9:30 am on Friday. The bus will arrive at The Master's Academy campus around 11:45 am. The arrival time is estimated based on traffic patterns; however, please allow extra time in your schedule for any unforeseen issues that may add time to the return trip from the camp.   Sebring Check-Out  Parent(s) or guardian(s) of the camper(s) will make their way to the Camp Sparta office and request their camper for pick-up between 9:30 am and 10:00 am on Friday. Be sure your camper(s) clearly understands that they will be departing only with the guardian identified on the registration form unless previously arranged with the camp office. Please be prepared to provide photo ID upon arrival at camp. Parents and family will be greeted by a staff member who will verify at least one adult in your party has permission to pick up the camper(s) (noted on the child’s registration form). Then, you will be directed to the child’s counselor.   Early Dismissals At check-in, the camp must be given written notification signed by the camper's parent or guardian authorizing an early dismissal of a camper. Please give the note to any of the camp leaders at check-in. Parents may meet their camper in the main office on the day of early departure. Please be prepared to provide photo ID. No discounts for early dismissal.    What to Bring to Camp: ●  Flashlight  ●  Bible / pen / notebook  ●  Sleeping bag or bedding (twin size beds) and pillow  ●  Comfortable clothes – mainly shorts and t-shirts  ●  Extra pair of shoes ●  There are sandspurs, so please ensure that your camper brings shoes to wear to the lake ●  Modest swimsuit / Beach towel / Beach shoes  ●  Sunscreen lotion ●  Insect repellant ●  Bathtowels / Washcloth / Personal Items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush) – Please only send items that are not highly valuable. Counselors encourage campers to stay organized and clean; however, often items are left  behind or arrive home well used. ●  Any prescribed medications Child is taking during camp. All medications must be turned in to the health office upon arrival, so please MARK CLEARLY all medicines in a clear, Ziploc bag with camper's name and specific instructions for the health office to administer. Do not remove medications from the original container.   What Not to Bring to Camp:   ●  Please do not bring any snacks containing peanuts or peanut butter. Help us protect other campers with this life-threatening allergy.   ●  Please do not bring any personal items or electronic equipment that cannot be replaced in the event they are misplaced or damaged during your camper's stay at the camp.      Cell phones  Campers are encouraged not to bring their cell phones to camp; however, we will not remove any phones from our campers during their stay. If you decide to allow your camper to bring a phone, Camp Sparta will not accept any responsibility for damage to or loss of the camper’s phone. If your child does not bring a phone to camp, parents may call the main camp number at 863-382-8696 to reach their child in case of an emergency or important family matter. In addition, camp staff will call parent(s) in the event of extreme homesickness, illness or an accident. As an alternative to phoning your camper to check on them, please send your love through the mail.    Mail Campers love to receive mail, but please be careful not to foster homesickness by telling them how much they are missed. Rather, tell them how glad you are for the fun they are having and the new friends they are making. We suggest that you pre-plan your mail and send it at the begining of your camper's summer camp week to ensure that your child receives his or her mail prior to the end of the camp week.     Dress Code Camp is very casual, but very active. Please make sure campers bring good shoes! Also, campers are expected to dress modestly during all activities. Please, no short shorts. Campers wearing revealing clothing will be asked to change. We recommend sending older clothes that may return home well-worn.  Summer Camp T-Shirt  If you would like to purchase a summer camp t-shirt for your camper, please indicate your camper's t-shirt size during the registration process.    Canteen (Snack Shack) Extra spending money is needed to purchase snacks at the Canteen ( – per item) or to buy camp souvenirs and t-shirts (up to per item). We suggest a range of – for the week. Money should be put in an envelope with the child’s name and given to the registration personnel at check-in. All monies will secured by camp staff and will be available to campers during canteen time. Any money not used by your camper will be returned at check-out or you can donate any remaining amount to the camp. All donated funds go toward scholarships to help future campers attend the camp. *** Please talk to your camper about how much money they will have for the week and about being a good steward of their money.    Lost and Found Items   We recommend that all property be marked with the camper’s name. Lost articles are kept for only one week after the camp week attended. Please call the office if any items are missing once your camper returns home at 863.382.8696. Items are returned after parents contact the Main Office; if you would like items to be mailed to you, they will be mailed COD.    Counselors  All of our counselors go through a strict application process. We conduct full background checks, require three references (including pastor), and hold personal interviews. The counselors are trained in various elements of camp, including first aid, facilitators training, evangelism, and Bible study.    Activities include, but are not limited to the following:  ● Bible Study Time  ● Bonfires  ● Chapel time (involves music, skits and teaching)  ● Crafts   ● Lake Activities (blob, lake slide, kayaks, tubing)  ● Canteen (candy, souvenirs)  ● Movie Night  ● Basketball  ● Games (air hockey, ping pong, foosball, board games, messy games)   ● Carpet ball  AND MORE!    While your child is away…  Pray for your camper! Prayer will make a significant impact on your child’s week of camp. Pray for his/her counselor and the speaker for the week. Pray for spiritual goals in relationship to your child’s needs, health and safety.    When they come home… Ask about the week and listen to your camper. Your interest in their week at camp is very important to them. Help reinforce any decisions made during the week.
